Overcoming Adversity with David Goggins' Cookie Jar

Last year each of us - despite our different walks of life - experienced or witnessed a sense of loss, fear, loneliness, scarcity and restriction.

In challenging times like 2020 it's important to have a collection of tools that build resilience and help us tap into our reserves of inner-strength.

One tool we've used personally is David Goggins' Cookie Jar — whereby your figurative ‘cookie jar’ is filled with powerful reminders of the strength within you. Every ‘cookie’ symbolises a challenge endured and overcome.

Yes, it is a simple concept but it is also incredibly powerful in reframing and overcoming adversity.

How to create your own Cookie Jar using myhaventime

David Goggins’ ‘cookie jar’ can be symbolic or literal. Whilst you could keep a physical jar of written experiences, we find a digital ‘cookie jar’ more practical as it can be added to or accessed from anywhere.

We used myhaventime to create our own ‘cookie jar’ - a journal of sorts - to document and house all of the experiences from which we have grown and become more resilient.

In last week's blog we explore whether social media, however problematic, is simply an avoidable part of modern life? Or if there is a better way?

You may have noticed that myhaven is now myhaventime.

In our hurried lives time is our most precious commodity and yet it is estimated we spend 1 hour and 46 minutes per day on social media platforms that are designed to consume you and detract from your human experience.

At myhaventime we respect and understand how precious your time is.
We are here to enrich your life, not distract you from it.

We don't use any feedback loops, algorithms or tricks to keep you hooked.

Instead, myhaventime is intentionally calm, simple and distraction free. A place for you to you to interact authentically, focus with precision, and think deeply for more efficient learning and growth.

We are not social media. We are the thinking person's individual media.
Your place to grow.
